ADAA The Art Show
Booth A7
February 27–March 1, 2020

Park Avenue Armory
Park Avenue at 67th Street
New York City

Kasmin is delighted to bring a presentation of new work by contemporary artists Alma Allen and Matvey Levenstein to The Art Show in February 2020 at Booth A7. Alma Allen (b. 1970) lives and works outside of Mexico City. His first solo exhibition is currently on view at Kasmin's flagship space in New York. Rendered in stone, wood, and bronze, Allen's works evoke a curiosity regarding the life of objects and the ways in which form and material can circumnavigate the utility of language. Known for his distillation of diverse organic references, the artist’s works simultaneously invite and resist classification. Matvey Levenstein (b. 1960) lives and works in New York City. Working with a limited palette on toned grounds, Levenstein’s distinctive compositions are characterized by the layers of paint built up and scraped back slowly and meticulously over many months, and their foregrounding of nature in all its dramatic variety: the looming power of a stormcloud, tree branches dissecting a winter sky, and more quietly, a vase of cut flowers sitting on a dinner table.
