James Capper presents his newest large-scale, kinetic sculpture, Mountaineer Prototype, 2015, at Collins Park in Miami Beach as part of Art Basel Miami Beach’s Public Sector. This is the artist’s first public installation of a monumental work in the United States. The Public Sector, curated by Director and Chief Curator of Public Art Fund Nicholas Baume, includes over 20 large-scale sculptures and installations by leading and emerging international artists will run from December 2 – 6, 2015.
Mountaineer Prototype, 2015, will be positioned in front of the Bass Museum located at 2100 Collins Ave., and when operated by the artist will traverse the grounds showcasing its versatile range of motion and series of movements. Capper will conduct demonstrations on Wednesday, December 2 from 7pm to 9pm (open to exhibitors and VIP guests) and each day Thursday, December 3 through Sunday, December 6 from 2pm to 3pm (open to all).
